Rotoscoping

This project has been a fun endeavor practicing my animation skills and using my favorite animation style: rotoscoping.

My biggest inspirations for becoming an animator come from the films I watched growing up. I had damn near the entire Disney movie collection on VHS tapes. My father introduced me to animes like Robotech and Starblazers at age 8. I've seen every style of animation from claymation to painstakingly hand-drawn 2D animation. One of my favorite techniques is utilized in the film Anastasia called, Rotoscoping.

Rotoscoping is the method of taking filmed reference and drawing the animation over top of the footage. I love this style because you can really draw anything on top of it from 1:1 tracing, to superimposing a completely different character or prop, just following the motion of your reference as you move along.

I want to give a huge thank you and shoutout to @alenee_aisha on Instagram for giving me permission to use her reel as my reference for this project. I had so much fun working on this both in my free time and on stream. I plan to continue working on more projects like this, as well as developing my skills as an animator to make more things from my imagination.
